Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI),
organizers of the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) has announced that day five of
prestigious industry event will present the GenNext in fashion through ‘Pearl
Portfolio’ - a showcase by Pearl Academy, the leading design institute with a legacy of over two
decades. This is the first ever occasion where 73 fashion design and
Jewellery design students from Pearl Academy Jaipur will showcase their
collection at a renowned industry platform.AIFW is known to display the most path-breaking work
of ace designers, the event will
be held from March 15-18 in New Delhi and the Pearl Portfolio will be added as
the fifth day, on March 19.
Day
five of AIFWwill witness five shows by Pearl Academy’s School of Fashion, Styling
and Textiles featuring
over 600 ensembles by over 350 budding designers. ‘Pearl Portfolio’,has been a
signature event of Pearl Academy for the last 23 years and has been an annual
launchpad showcasing the work of graduating students pursuing their goals in
fashion as well as related industries.
The budding fashion designers have shown
some ingenious thinking to put together some very innovative projects such as a
collection inspired by a ‘Thalassophile’ (someone who loves the oceans),
borrowing from the ‘beauty’ and the ‘endless boundaries’ which an ocean
connotes and how these define today’s woman. All collections of Jewellery
designs have been sponsored by renowned jewellery brands such as Amrapali,
Voylaa, BlueStone and PC Jewellers.
On
the announcement, Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI stated, “We are delighted to present the Pearl
Portfolio as it is a creative space, which fosters fresh ideas through enabling
design education. As a leading body that promotes design excellence, this
collaboration will give an opportunity to greenhorns, to have an eclectic vision
for the future.”
